Any ideas on when in a vector a call is considered answered and billing by the telco begins. i.e. if you que to skill and playback only ringing. Is the call billed to you?

Anybody know or use a special application called toll free vectoring?

as soon as your pbx picks up the call, telco's clock starts ticking.

It's different for different telcos.

Some won't bill until something that's not a call progress tone (i.e. ringing or a busy signal) is heard.

Some start billing when the call reaches your PBX.

Some start billing after a period of time (say, four rings) has passed, even if the call isn't answered.

Some wait for "answer supervision" to be returned.

My advice would be to ask your telco rep. (Someone technical, not sales.)

wattie29,

there are vector steps that are known for generating answer supervision, and there are steps that doesn't answer the call. you can find full list somewhere within 'call vectoring and eas guide' document on your doc cd. generally speaking, steps that generate some output to caller should answer the call and others are not. i.e. wait-time x hearing music would answer and route-to number xxxx (if it goes as first step) would not.
