Toad for oracle probs

Hi all,
I have downloaded the latest version of TOAD for oracle freeware. Ive been using an older version of this for some time but now I am having some trouble. I can only load an SQL file into the SQL window and run it, but if I try to freetype a new query it gives me an error "data type mismatch" ? has anyone else had this prob and if so any ideas on how to fix?

hi,

what is the query you are trying to run. i have only ever seen the 'data type mismatch' before when querying an oracle database through ms access.

have you got some joins in your query?
