Hello,
I have some questions regarding the 8510T phone, I wonder if any of you could help me?. I am trying to connect some 8510T phones to a Lucent TN556B card...but I can not even add the bri-card..i have a G3 R9.5 version.
What are the steps?
I looked at the books and there something about a TN2185? and the TN556B.. but nothing that I can follow the instructions.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Zulma

Hi
Add station next. Change type to 8510T. Change port to your TN556 right location.
Set XID-N, MIM Support-N, Data Module- Y (insert Data Extension on last page) or change it to your needs.
And be sure that your wiring is right done. For each port of TN556 you should use 2 pair of wires. The 12 ports on the board are going on terminal without blanks. First pair of TN556 must be connected to central pair of wall jack(white-blue) of 8510 set, second pair of TN556 must be connected to white-green pair of wall jack - it will be first port.
For the second port take pair 3 and pair 4 of TN556 and connect it to white-blue and white-green pairs of other 8510 wall jack and so on...
Have you more questions?

Thank you for the instructions, but now I am getting this error message when I tried to enter the port ""01b1801" May not mix BRI stations and trunks on one board; please select anoth"

Am I missing anything? what am I doing wrong? please help me. Here is a copy of the settings for the station and the isdn - bri too.

Thank you.

Definity says right, you can't do trunks and stations on one board.
If you want to use 8510 on this board you have to remove all trunk ports from this board.

from admin's guide:
"......
Interactions
The add bri-trunk board PPCSS command is rejected if PPCSS identifies a
TN556B circuit pack, and a port on that circuit pack has already been assigned to
a station or data-module. If a TN556B circuit pack has been administered as a BRI
trunk circuit pack, any port on that circuit pack is prevented from being assigned
to a station or data-module."

Dear Dimas,
I have removed the bri-trunk-board and then punch the following way:

1st pair -->white blue and blue
2nd pair -->white green and green

but there is no dial tone..anything else that you might think I am missing doing?
this is the result that i get when i do test sta 1888 and display alarms.

Your help is really appreciated!
Thanks,

Zulma

what about status station?
May be it will sound like not intelligent...but
I remmeber that sometimes a pairs polarity does matter. First try to swap positions of blue and white-blue wires.
Then may be try swap green and white-green.

Maintenance says the following:

1113 FAIL The signaling link is not "bound" to the adjunct or endpoint. For BRI
endpoints supporting MIM initialization, this error indicates that the
endpoint has not been bound to a signaling link (that is, SPID initialization
has not been completed). Since the signaling link associated with the
endpoint is not identified until SPID initialization completes, this error does
not imply that the signaling link is connected or disconnected at Layer 2
nor does it provide the status of TEI assignment for the endpoint. For ASAI
adjuncts and BRI endpoints not supporting MIM initialization, this error
indicates that the link is disconnected at Layer 2. Since the signaling link
associated with the endpoint has been identified via administration, the
link is only "unbound" from the endpoint when it is disconnected.
1. Execute the status bri-port PCSSpp command and refer to the
associated procedures for this command contained in the BRI-PORT
(ISDN-BRI Port) Maintenance documentation.

So try status bri-port 01b1801 and will see..

Sorry Zulma,
We forgot to do three things for correct install the 8510T:
1. Read the DEFINITY EnterpriseCommunicationsServerandSystem75andSystem85
Terminals and Adjuncts Reference 555-015-201
Issue 11
2. Check what power type you are going to use? Here is Installation docs:
The 8510T can receive power from the switch or from an auxiliary power supply.
NOTE:
A voice/data set should be auxiliary powered only.
The installer can select the type of power used by placing the two power jumpers
over the correct set of pins.
The power option jumpers are located at the bottom center of the terminal. On the
right side of the pins, on the plastic housing, you will see the label POWER and a
diagram of the correct settings. The jumpers are labeled PHAN (phantom power)
and AUX (auxiliary power). The terminal is shipped in the AUX position. You must
verify that the jumper settings are set correctly for your configuration.
3. Looks like We should use SPID in station config - in that case you have to set MIM-y
and set SPID - to some value (for example extension number). Then we see into
the installation manual procedure:
The Service Profiler ID (SPID)
When ISDN terminals are initially installed, a unique SPID number must be
entered into the terminal. This number identifies the terminal to the network.
Usually, the system manager provides the SPID for each terminal in the system.
Use the following procedure for entering the SPID in an ISDN 8510T terminal.
1. Press and then press .
2. Dial the numbers, “43” (ID).
3. Press on the dial pad.
4. Enter digits from the dial pad for a new SPID number. If, at any point, you
make a mistake, press to erase the number and re-enter the SPID.
5. When the SPID number is correct, press on the dial pad to save the
new SPID in the terminal.

Sorry I did so 8510 installation two-three years ago - it's hard to remember the little things :).

Okay,.. I have swap the positions...same outcome...
Could you please check this link? Maybe it is not related to what i am trying to do...I just found it, when I enter "wire connection of 8510T"..
Thanks for helping me. Here are the results of status bri and stat sta..
Thanks again Dimas! What do you think I should do next?

I just read your reply.. I will go and check about the AUX and PHAN and so on..
You don't have to be sorry..for anything.. thank you! for taking the time to help me :)

The text fragment from my last replay was without some key pictures(bad transfer from pdf-file), here it again.
(For entering of SPID you must enable MIM Support- y; Endpt Init? -y SPID : 1888 in station form).
And then do the following
When ISDN terminals are initially installed, a unique SPID number must be
entered into the terminal.
1. Press Menu and then press Mute.
2. Dial the numbers, “43” (ID).
3. Press * on the dial pad.
4. Enter digits from the dial pad for a new SPID number ("1888 in your case"). If, at any point, you
make a mistake, press # to erase the number and re-enter the SPID.
5. When the SPID number is correct, press * on the dial pad to save the
new SPID in the terminal.
Sorry again...

Dear Dimas,

My apologies to you for not letting you know that we DID it!
The phone is turn on! I just have to enter the spids and then we are set for testing…because we are using the 6400 series here now..
There is an issue that I have to run wires from our server room to my desk. But that’s no problem. I can do it!
Anyway, we did it Dimas!
Thanks for your help and for being patient with me,

Zulma
