We have SAP R/3 4.5B with Oracle 8.1.7 running on Compaq True64 Unix with NT application servers. Everytime we do a transport that has data dictionary objects the system utilizes a batch process on any of the NT application server , and the transport abends with condition code 8. To fix this we shutdown the application servers and then retransport from database server. It works fine, but shutting down the app. server is a problem, for us. Is there anyway I can do these transports that have Date dictionary objects from the command level and telling in the tp command to utilize database server and not go to the app.server at all or any simpler solution will work.
Thanks for anybody's help.

Hi,
though I don't now the exact error message (should be in the transport protocol or the system log) you can try to edit the batch job RDDIMPDP which generates the DB objects (which is normally in status planned in client 000) adding the name of the central instance in the field 'application server' - then the SAP dispatcher initiates the job on that specified server.
Be sure to be logged on as DDIC (the job was planned by DDIC in client 000 using the program RDDIMPDP) But in general that sounds like a DB problem which might could be fixed with an Oracle or SAP system kernel patch.

Kind regards and good luck,
