TLE outbound "delimited" application file!?

Hi. I have been mapping with TLE for 6 years but this is the first time I have come accross a "delimited" application file for an outbound EDI transaction. While TLE has a check box to indicate that the application file is delimited, nowhere else does it say how to handle the layout of the application record and fields! Can anyone shed some light?
