I need to do the following command but its not working.
Its for Timezone
Format: TZ GMT<+/-><xxxx>
I'm in Central Standard Time

More info, please. Don't you need to export TZ? You will also lose any setting on reboot, so best to put this in a file read at boot-time.

check your default (/etc/default), it there is no TZ file create one. Example for Eastern Standard, EST5EDT.

Hope this is what your're looking for.
