Timeout failure during scsi inquiry commnand, rescanning for scsi devices

I have a scsi controller, cable going to a pin converter connected to the drive. Why wont it recognize?

Is the drive the last device on the chain or are there other devices connected to it as well?

i have only this drive. its the last connector on the scsi cable is terminated, the 1st one is open and i plugged this in the second one. Is that correct?

"cable going to a pin converter connected to the drive".

"the 1st one is open and i plugged this in the second one".

Not sure what you mean by these two statements?

"cable going to a pin converter connected to the drive".
>>i have a 60 pin cable and an 80 pin drive

"the 1st one is open and i plugged this in the second one".
>>on the scsi cable i used the second free slot after the scsi controller card.

If the SCSI devices consist of just the controller and (1) device attached then the configuration would be to terminate both the controller and the attached device.

If you had 2 devices attached then you would disable termination on the first device and terminate controller and last device on chain.

If you had 2 devices attached and one was on an internal chain and the other on the external chain then you would
terminate both devices and disable termination on the controller. You need to have termination on both ends of the scsi bus.

What brand and model controller are you using?
What brand and model drive are you using?
What motherboard do you have?
