that should work. As that is how I automatticaly sync time on legacy systems. Is anyone else making a change? Run 'stat log' to see if someone else is making change while your setting the time.
Actually I need to do it with the ASA options, not making a set time because I need exactly the same time than the PC.
I'm the only one logged in the Definity, so it couldn't be a conflict with someone else.
This is not the first time that I tryed it, but it never works for me. I don't know if it is required have some Time software running in the PC.

make sure you are logged into the switch, but that the ASA connection is "idle", then your "set time" synchroization command will work. It will always fail unless there is an open connection available in ASA.
so it that impossible to sync the Definity R9.5 with the PC using that ASA option?
I have read some others posts about this with Communication Manager and it seems to work, so I suppose is something wrong with this version. However the ASA Help seems to say it works with Definity (from 7.1)
All it does is essentially log into the switch and compare the time on the PC to the time in the Definity. If it's more than a minute or two off, it will correct the Definity time to match the PC clock. From then on the Definity clock is on it's own to wander all over the place until you run that task again.
I would setup a PC to run 24/7. Then schedule the sync time to run every month as 4 am. I've had this setup on a few legacy systems and its been working for years without issues. My time is always correct.
