Hi

We used to use Tardis to sync all the Pcs and servers in our domain. We now want to get rid of it and use windows time service. Ive seen the atricles on how to set authoritive servers etc. Ive set the servers to sync off the pdc emulator and the pdc emulator syncs off exteranl server.

My problem is the workstations, ive been told their reg settings need to be updated to point to the authoritive server in its site. The question is does this have to be done, wont windows find its own servers to sync from?

If the registry settings are necessary how would i go about it using GPO? Or is there an easier way?

Thanks

D

The workstations are supposed to find a dc to sync with upon startup. You shouldn't have to modify the registry.

I'd actually only set the PDCe time source (to the external source), leave everything else as default and it works itself out pretty well (there's a hierachy it goes through, e.g. local DC's first).

Ok, thanks for the input!
