This is not an immediate issue and just a bit of early research on my part.

The time on our system will gradually slow over the course of 4-5 months and be off by a couple minutes. I believe a small(CMOS type) battery or battery/cap is responsible for this.

1) is that info correct?
2) is this a pain in the @$$ to change?
3) since being a cap(if it is) is fuctuation like this acceptable?

Sorry not to be more specific, I know how to change the system time but was curious of the above questions...

There's no cmos battery that I know of. There is only a memory cap on the motherboard that retains all the system programming. This cap is an ordeal to change as you have to dismantle the entire control unit to get access to it. Once that's done it's fairly easy to replace if you're handy with a soldering iron. You'll also default all your programming once you remove the cap.

If the system is losing time then the clock chip is responsible. Use the Auto Time & Date feature if you can.
