Im assuming the time that is displayed on any phone comes from the system time? If so and the time is wrong how do you correct it and can changing it be done without interference. This is a G3siV6
Are the phone's off from the switch by minutes or by specific hours? One thing we found with a new switch we were setting up and with the IP Phones was the network region we could have different time on different phones, not sure if that applies to the digital sets as well, but might be something to look at if it's exacly off in hours.
You may change the time by loging into the Definity PBX. Once at the command prompt, type "set time" without the quote marks. This will allow you to manually change the time by movingto the field that requries updating. The change is immediate and will impact or skew ACD reports and call logs. You may also need to change the time on the voicemail server. So, check that too. Changing the time on the PBX does not requrie any sort of stop and restart or service outage. You will need to ask users with model 8434D and 8434DX telephones to use their softkey buttons to reset the time display.
Then a display set is first plugged in the switch sends the time to the set. The set's internal clock is supposed to keep it aligned with the switch clock. Because of inaccuracies in the clocks they drift apart. One way to fix that is on the System Feature form. For a V6 switch, on page 7 there is a field named 'System Updates Time On Station Displays?'. Change that field to a 'y'. What that will do is every night at midnight the switch will send new clock information to every display set and re-sync them to the PBX. I don't know why the default is 'n'.
Excellent info Kevin, thanks!
When my individual sets display wrong time, I do one of the following - (they may not be the best way but these work for me!):
- unplug/plug them back in
- test station xxxx long clear
- busy & release
Those seem to work for me. (my System Updates was set to yes already.)
