Running Xp Pro 2002, I am administrator on my own machine, cannot change the time, tells me 'you do not have the proper priviliges to change the system time. Any ideas?

I am an administrator on the local machine and on the network, but I still cannot change the time. There is no policy stopping me either. I am stumped!

SeSystemTimePrivilege is a system privilige and not controlled by Group Policy or anything accessible by the XP GUI.

I have seen several instances when XP installs using images by OEM Manaufacturers have mistakenly stripped from the images several key system rights.

First, download ntrights.exe, part of the Win2k Resource Kit, from here:
Unzip ntrights.exe and place it in c:\Windows\system32

Second step: Start, Run, CMD
ntrights.exe -u Administrators +r SeSystemtimePrivilege

You should receive the message "Granting
SeSystemtimePrivilege to Administrator ... successful".

Third step, test. You should be able to change the date/time. If not, refer to the article above about ACL permissions required on a particular registry key.

Did that it did what you said it would do. I tried straight away to change system time, no go. I am now going to reboot as I am not sure if I need to. Thanks so much for your help, sorry I am such a dummy. The ACL permissions, is this in the first link you gave me?

Thanks again

Yoooo Hoooo it worked !! Thanks
