I have two Definity Switches connected via two T1 tie Lines with E&M signaling.
The Main Definity switch is s G3 and has two Isdn pri lines to the PSTN.
The second Definity switch is a G1 and has to go through the first switch for PSTN connectivity.

I need to know how if I can send the calling number using the Tie lines.
There is a option on the trunk page for send calling number but when I put yes ,it does not send it.
Would DCS work here ? If so can someone explain this option further.
Thanks

DCS would work here and if turned on in your system, would allow you to pass the information over a data or lan circuit to the remote location.

The old style DCS used a leased line and data modules to accomplish this. Then came DCS over PRI between sites.

Now with the newer switches you use DCS over IP.

The call goes over the tie lines and the data information goes over the data or lan circuit, to control the call and pass routing information over the data link.

It is not something you can just turn on and go, though. A lot of planning goes into it first and the proper RTU's need to be turned on in both switches.

DCS also allows you to centralize the voicemail system as well.

You could also pull a channel off the T1 trunk group and use it and data modules to establish a DCS link.
