hi, im having trouble with the thumbnail previews of images when you browse through folders. the feature is working except the previews are all distorted. how do i fix this? thanks in advance for the help =)

In what way are they distorted, colour, size, shape(!)

Mine are a little distorted too, considering they are about 10 times smaller than the original files.

Go to Start>Run, type:
regsvr32.exe thumbvw.dll

If that doesn't do it, type:
regsvr32.exe shdoc401.dll

Try shutting down and restarting.

i tried entering those registry codes and they didnt seem to work either. shutting down and restarting didn't work either.

the way their distorted varies for each image. some can be blurry, and others when you cant even tell what the image is.

Are you using high color 16-bit under Display properties>Settings?

Did this just start?

reghakr

yes its on high color 16 bit. should it be true color or something?

yes it just started like a week ago.

No, that's not beccessary. Ithought it might be set on 256 colors.

"About a week" ago, did you install or remove any programs?

reghakr

two actually but one was installed after this started happening.

the first program was a program that was for my bro's digital camera.

What was the program? It might not even be needed to use the camera. I'd try uninstalling it, even just temporarly to see if thats the problem.

hey its fixed now ^_^

although i didnt uninstall the digital camera program. i was going to but i decided to check the online support for the program and it turned they had an issue with "distorted thumbnails". it said to install IE 5 to fix it but i already had that installed. so i just re-installed IE 5 to see if it would work and it did =). glad that's taken care of.

also i just wanted to say thanks to everyone who entered their input. without it, i would of never suspected to check the newly installed programs and find an answer to the problem. so thanks again =)
