Thru-dial problem 1

We lost our Mermail hard drive a few weeks ago, and our tape backups (both daily and a stored one) were bad so the Bellsouth/AT&T tech got everything up and running on a new hard drive, installed Mermail, and I have all functions working EXCEPT thru-dial.

It responds, allows you to enter a name, and will find my name, but says "that person cannot be reached through this service".

In COS, I have
External Call-Sender On_switch
Extension Dialing On_switch (tried Unrestricted also)
Custom Revert On_switch

Under Voice Administration>>Voice Security Options
List Name: On switch
Restriction Codes: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Permission Codes:


Any tips?
 
i am not an expert but you are apparently restricting all digits 0 - 9 for the through dial. you need to identify what your extensions start with such as 6xxx and give the 6's etc permission to be dialed. otherwise you will get the death message that your call cannot be connected.
 
That was it. I kept digging, and had seen that, but wasn't sure how to modify it.

One related note, I have it so you press 9 to dial by extension/name, but we used to be able to dial the extension right away. All extensions start with 4, and 4 is not used on the voice menu. How?
 
so you need to make for sure that you are allowing the digit 4 with ON_Switch permissions. You can then remove the 9 to dial by extension/name. Did you just add the (dial 9) option or has it always been that way.
 
9 has always been the 'press 9 to dial by extension or name' option, but we also had it so as soon as the menu started, you could just dial like 4101 and it would call 4101 instead of pressing 9 first.

I'm satisfied with everything right now, but was just wondering if that is an easy thing to reenable.

Now if I can just convince my boss the CFO we really need to upgrade...
 
Why do you need to upgrade?

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.


 
Alright, it's become an 'issue' now that callers can't just dial the extension immediately.

Here's what I have.

All of our extensions are 41xx or 42xx, how do I have it so when you are on the main menu, you can just dial the extension without having to press 9 to get to the thru-dial?
 
check the individual mailboxes for thru dial capabilites
 
All boxes are enabled, don't I need to set an option in the main menu for key 4?
