Can someone explain what a thread is and what it does?

Thanks,

Dena

A thread is a "lightweight process". In operating systems like NT/2K/XP, a thread is the unit of CPU time scheduling, which means that as a CPU becomes available for other work, it doesn't look for a process to go run, but rather looks for a thread to go run.

Take a look at:

Chip H.
