After a couple of weeks, when the laptop is out of the Port Replicator and not connected to an external monitor, it seems to lose its video. You can barely see the screen on the laptop and the Fn (function) key on the Thinkpad keypad which would switch it between CRT and LCD doesn't seem to function. Is there a separate driver out there for the function key on the keypad?

I honestly think there is a power problem with the laptop. When it believes it is on battery only it reduces the video display to conserve battery life.

I think you need to take this puppy back to the service shop and have it looked at. Hopefully all you need is a new battery.

If it happens while connected to AC power a trip back to the service shop is unambiguously indicated.

Yeah it looks like you should have it serviced especially if it's under warranty.
There are lots of drivers available though if you want to check it out here is the link:
good luck.
