I have a TP 600x, 2645-8EG. It comes with 64mb on board. I was using a 32mb DIMM to bring the memory up to 96mb but recently bought a couple of 128mb DIMM's to take the memory (or so I assumed) to 320mb (64 plus the two 128's!). On startup and in XP however, the machine only shows 256mb as being available. Same when I access the BIOS to check.

Anybody have any idea where my onboard 64mb has gone?

Thanks!

So what is a TP600X? Do we have to guess???

Who Makes it?

It could be shared memory! If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

As I said in the header of my post, a "Thinkpad" 600x. Thinkpads are laptops which were sold by a company call "IBM". They were quite big when I was a lad.

I will attempt to be extra clear in future.

This system should go up to 576 MB according to IBM, so a 256MB limit would be out of the question. Have you tried a BIOS upgrade? Have you tried installing just one of the DIMMS to see if you have 192MB? Have you contacted IBM regarding any RAM issues/requirements with this model?
