When setting up a Win 2000 PC to replace an older pc I am experiencing a network problem. After loggin in as administrator, I tried setting up the user on our NT network. I'm getting the error message in the subject. Anyone have any experience with this error message? I have a registry editor resolution from Microsoft Knowledge Base, but would like to hear from any comments. Thanks. Rick (570) 281-5386.

If you are trying to join a PC to the domain with the same name as an old PC make sure that the old PC has been removed from the directory by checking the OU which it resided in. If it is still present manually delete it

You will also get the "existing credentials" message if you have manually mapped a drive (or are using any network resource) prior to performing this type of network function.

If you have a network drive mapped, or are using another network resource, disconnect from the resource and try again.

Good luck.
