I sometimes get blue screen message like thatin win98: " The volume that was removed had open files on it. Next time please check first to see if the volume can really be removed."

When that happening i need to restart, but after that its ok couple times when i start system. Before when that happen, I have not changed anything, all hardware and software are same before error coming. I have one harddrive, one partition, Asus A7V motherboard.

Anybody has experience with that kind error message?

Next time you see the message write it down word for word and post it then.

If it reads exactly like you wrote this one, then it is NOT a Windows error but might be a virus trick.

Also: If your CD-ROM is the Drive Letter that the error is linked to, then place the CD you ejected back in to the CD-ROM and hit Enter after a few seconds.

message is excatly like i posted it...

there is no cd in cd rom...

Can you Ctrl + Alt + Delete out of that screen?

Try that twice in a row to see if it reboots.

"Volume" is a storage unit like a hard drive, CD ROM, or Zip disk perhaps.

I really hate to say it but it does sound like a virus appearing to disable your C drive. If it were actually disabled then the error would not appear since if your C drive is disabled then Windows can not give you an error, but rather just freezes.

Very interesting however. The reason I asked if it were exactly like that quote is, that is not the way Microsoft would word the error in my opinion.

Perhaps someone else will have had this and can help more.
