I thought I might open a question about the future of aspect and see what people think.

I think the future of aspect is pretty bleak. And so I ask:

Has anyone thought about writing a free / open source compiler or interpreter for aspect scripts?

I would really love something like that. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to implement 80% of aspect commands.

Alternativly would it be possible I wonder to create an "aspect" library for c or an aspect class for java...perl... whatever.

Or is it really worth the effort? I'd like to know what people think.

I think the main benefit of ASPECT is that it ties into the underlying functionality of Procomm and makes it easy for a script or program to access data or information about the state of Procomm. Without Procomm, ASPECT is fairly gutted as a language, and would not do well as a standalone language in my opinion.
