I installed a domain controller windows 2000 server and when i try to access it throught a workstation -wich was connected to another domain controller- a message "the credentials supplied conflict with an existing set of credentials" is displayed. This happens after typing the username and password. Thank you...

Are you trying to add a workstation to a domain?

If so, this is what I do to get it to work:

1. Create the domain account AND a computer account through active directory users and computers. You can also delete or disable the old computer accounts on your network if you are changing names to add to the domain.

2. Change the computer name on the workstation and makes sure you are putting them into the WORKGROUP (or some other name) workgroup, NOT the domain.

3. Reboot your computer after changing the name.

After reboot.

4. You should be able to join the domain at this point, because it will ask you for the computer name to join the domain. If it asks you for the Admin user name and password it should work from here.

I had the same problems trying to rename computers to put them on the network with different users. This was the only way I could work around it.

Hope I made sense; I just woke up and the caffeine hasn't kicked in just yet. ;-) J.R. Juiliano
