I recently set up a new server which came with Backup Exec 10 already installed on it. After running it for a couple of days and completing a few backups I was asked to rename the server so it was easy to diferenciate from an older server.
After I renamed the server I can no longer get the backup Exec services to start. I have tried everything I can think of including renaming the server back to the old name and uninstalling the services, then changing the name and reinstalling them.
Nothing works, I was told that i will need to re-image the server which sounds retarded to me.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Here is the error in the event viewer
The Backup Exec Server Service did not start. An internal error (1627652097) occurred in object -1.

I assume you're on Windows... Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. Doubleclick the BE services (one at a time). Select the Log On tab and see what account the service uses to log on with. They may be set to use "OldServerName/WhateverAccountUsuallyAdministrator". Change this to "./WhateverAccountUsuallyAdministrator" and see if that helps. There are about 5 services you need to check.

You will have to chnage the name of the server in beutility. By default it is in this location:
C:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\beutility.exe
Once you add your media server to beutility you will right click on the server name and select update configuration to reflect new media server name
