hi,

just noticed in the Event Viewer|System Log that for along time, during boot up i have the following error:
Source: Service Control Manager
EventID: 7000
Description:
The Atenlpt service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified.

i have searched everything (Google and Microsoft) and could not find anything on Atenlpt.

it takes my laptop over 3 minutes to boot up and i suspect this may be part of the problem. i have no detectable problems running the laptop, but i am interested if anyone here has a clue.

thanks.

Assuming you are using W2K or HigherRight click on my conputer, go to manage, services , find the Atenlpt service, you will see that its startup is set to automatic yet is is not started. Double click on this service and disable it. You system will now boot without trying to start this service, This will fix the slow boot up time. Then you can figure out wether it is a service required by your system or one that was left behind after an uninstall., Let me know how you go.

MCP,

thanks. i am used W2K Pro. i am unable to find this
Atenlpt serive in the Services and Applications list under Computer Management. any further clues?

OK, Can you open up the services box in computer management, sort all services by startup type, Look down the list till you find the service that is set to startup automatically but remains stopped. Now right click on this service and click on the dependancies tab, tell me what is there. Double click on this service and change the startup type from automatic to manual, now reboot and you should see a difference.

Any further help anyone? thx. -yc

you can download software from there that will identify processes to their specific program. You should also check the registry for entries for that service, Have a good w/e
