Just go File>New>Title
Create a title page with a white background and put your text wherever you want it. Save the file and import it into your project.
Drag and drop the file from the bin into the Video2 channel and position it whereever you want it to appear. Edit the duration and hey presto! You are done B-)

Make sure that the text is always on a higher video channel than the image you're trying to put it over, otherwise... you might end up with a matte... lol
