Text box in form not showing currency

I have a text box with properties set to currency with 2 decimal places and the table that is referenced is also set to currency. For some reason $173.90 shows up as '173.9'. I have looked at similar problems posted here but nothing I do seems to fix the problem.

check again on the 'format' entries of that form. Currency should not show as you indicate.

I checked again and the format for that text box is set to currency and decimal places are set to 2.
