I am getting ready to replace our old NT webserver with
a Windows 2000 machine.

In the IIS Manager on the Win 2000 machine I created 3 websites with respective host headers:

I would like to test them using the localhost but I receive the following error:

No website configured for this address.

If I take out the from the host header I can get it to work.

What I would like to know is how I can test my websites internally before I replace my old webserver.

Agree or you could set up DNS if its a test server.

Thank you very much!
That did the trick!

Add entries to your local hosts file for each test site. "

Is that the local host on all PC's or Server?

OR is DNS better solution and how/were is it configured?

Thanks.

DNS is the better solution, but you do need to be either,

1/ running a server version of Windows on the PC.
or
2/ connected to a network with a local server on it.

DNS is configured in the MMC. It will be available from the Computer Management Console or from Programs -> Administrative Tools -> DNS

Chris.

Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?

I found my problem:

I did not have the Local Server IP in the DNS settings of my NIC. Set the Local IP as Primary and is working now.

Thanks for the hints.
