Where can I find a downloadable copy of IE3 to test my sites behavior on? Is it a quantum leap from IE2? Believe it or not I found an old PC with IE2 on it, but I hope that is a factor I need not consider. My home page uses layers and I was trying to operate on the principle that a hidden top most layer would appear first in an old browser, but in IE 2 the text in this layer appears way down down the page.

wblue,
i don't think you need worry about IE3 either. 86% of the ppl on the net have 4.0 or above for IE and 4 up for netscape. but if you would still like to find a copy of it I might have it on a cd some where or you can look on some older sites maybe even at Nunzio

What I was thinking was to make one alternate text based site to cover all the low-tech bases- old browsers, text only, no java, etc.
To offer a link to this alternate site my first plan was to create a top most visible layer sized to the full page with text saying ‘wait for page to load’ (about 10 –30 seconds) and text with a link saying ‘ for text only page ‘ click here, then to attach a behavior to the body tag of the page hiding this layer when the page is loaded. I’ve seen that will not work in IE2 and really don’t care, but what about other contingencies?
Thanks for the help.

wblue,
another thing that you might want to do if you are going to be using layers is make sure that you don't exceded four layers on a page. Netscape is not built to handle more than for layers and will usually mangle them on the browser.
