Hello All:

I'm creating a new image ( 275x275 pixels) with transperent background. In that image I'm writing a word of 3 letters ( each letter Size:100 pixels Font:Brush Script MT italic Leading:24 Baseline:0 FauxBold - checked Fractional Widths - checked ).

When I use this image in asp page and view in browser the letter loose sharpness and smoothness. How to make characters more smooth.

I have adobe photoshop 5.5

Thanks in advance

Check that the image isn't being re-sized in the page.

is the image less than 72 dpi.

What have you saved the file as gif or jpg ??

if jpg you might have compressed it too much and you are getting what are known as artifacts (sp?). Try going back to the original and saving as a gif or better quality jpg.

Thanks for your response..

When a create a new image in photoshop 5.5 I will get only 2 options while saving ( save as PSD, PDD ). So I export the image ( GIF89a export ) and save it as .gif file.

In page I'm using same size as image.

Thanks

before saving the image have a look in image>mode.

Is the image index colour or RGB ??

try the other one from the one you have and try saving it again.
The rule of thumb for saving images for the web is.

If there are a lot of colours and/or the image is large it is (usuly) best to go jpg for most other images .gif is (usualy) the best option.

It comes with time and experimentation to get them to their optimal size without spoiling the image too much.

Dilip, it is not normal that you should have only these two "save as" options. You should have a lot more, including Jpeg and Tiff. Like Manic said, check the mode, but also check the bits (8 or 16 ?) and check if your image has been flattened or not <layer <flatten image>. Once flattened you can save it in a lot more formats. Also, check the level of anti aliasing of your text.

Good luck,
Patricia
