We have a phone which went dead somehow overnight. All is plugged in correctly. On the 'test sta' command it failed on Test No. 48. Does anyone know what that means? Our phone man is out, and this is all I know to do to check it. Any other help would be great. Thx.

Test 48 for an analog line usually means the system cannot see the ringer in the phone. Sounds like you have an open connection somewhere. It could be a bad line cord, bad jack, open cross connect etc. I'd start by plugging a known working telephone into the jack to see if that works. If not, you will have to work the trouble back to the switch.

Where can I find a list of these error codes?

Some of the wires in the jack were corroded, that's what caused the problem.

Corroded wires....
I would definatly want to try to figure out why,
if it happened one place, might it happen in others.
