I have implemented a 2003 domain in a mixed environment. The new Windows 2003 Server is the only DC. One of the member servers running Windows 2000 Server was also running Terminal Services. I need to continue running TS on the W2K Server. However, since I joined it to the domain, TS is looking for a TS license server. Since a license server can only run on a DC in a domain environment, it would have to be set up on the Windows Server 2003 DC. Or, I could promote the W2K server to a DC, but it is not recommended to run TS on a DC. My question is can I use the W2K server TS CALs on the W2K3 server if I set it up as the TS license server, or will I have to purchase TS CALS for W2K3 server?

Any suggestions?

u may set up win2k3 DC as TSL server

So, I can set up Win2K3 as the TS License server and load up the Win2K TS licenses for the TSL server to issue?

you should be OK with your w2k CALs as the Terminal Server is a 2000 server.

The TS will be the 2000 server, the be TS license server will be the 2003 server. Still ok to use the 2000 TS CALs?

u are covered, for win2k3 TSL can issue license to win2k, not vice verse.
