I need to set up a Windows 2003 Terminal server on our network for 3 users full time and another 2 for occasional use.

Questions.

1. Is a 1024MB, Single SCSI, Xeon Server a good enought spec
2. What licences do I need . Is it just Windows 2003 server with 5 cals & 5 cals for Terminal server.
3. How good is the remote printing with this set up these days. Can I sit at one remote pc and print to
a. A printer connectd to my remote PC - lpt1
b. A printer connected directly to my remote network - ip port
c. A printer connected to another remote PC - lpt1

4. Do I need to backup this server regularly or would one full backup suffice once its all up & running? All app data is on another remote server.

Thanks

1.-3. Yes.
4. If you don't want backup users profiles, you may once backup all server.

1. More than enough.
2. One TS CAL per user, depending on their OS. If it is 2000 Pro then you didn't used to need anything. 9x or XP you need one CAL per PC/User.
3. Very good. a - Yes, b - Yes, c - yes if you are Power User (that is from memory). However, the printer driver MUST be available for local client OS AND Windows 2000 and should really be an inf file rather than a setup app.

Yes, I'm having a spot of bother with HP multi function devices and TS and have learned a lot!

4. If you have no data and are running roaming profiles then you don't need to back it up.
