I often use Terminal services on Windows 2000 servers (to administer the server from a remote location.

Does NT Server 4.0 have this capability?

I recall useing a "less tha perfect" remote administration program with $.0, but am looking for something better.

Any suggestions?

you have to use a different version of Windows NT server "Terminal Edition" but I heard that is horriable, might as well go back to Win2000

I being using Dameware its pretty good, but the slowness part of NT still settles in, I g uess NT is not exactly built for remote admin any way

Thanks for the response, that's what I was afraid I was going to hear.

I'll take a look at Dameware, this will be only occasional (emeregency) administration of client servers over a vpn.

We use VNC for remote access to servers both over a vpn and internally.

Cheers.

We installed nt4 TSE a few years back. We have run it without using citrix. The users hate it, we can't print very well and its probably best avoided. Printing is a royal pain as only a few drivers are nt 4 tse aware, so there are loads of printers that it won't work with.

It is quite useful and fast to use over a VPN but the lack of prinitng is such a hinderance.

Use 2K or 2k3 server instead!

Thanks guys. As long as I'm stuck with NT 4.0 at this particular client, I'll use one of the VNC products.

Thanks again!!
