Scenario

Originally we had an nt 4 sbs server. I had a 2000 server running terminal services with the 25 cals loaded and it was a member server.

We upgraded our sbs 4.5 to sbs 2003. I left the 2000 server as is, but now that it is a member server it no longer has the licenses for connectivity. Are my only options to make it a DC or call microsoft and load the licenses on the 2003 server (not sure if 2003 requires different cals then 2000). If i make the 2000 server a DC will it be able to connect to the sbs server?

Thanks.

If you make it a DC you will not be able to connect it to SBS with a trust. SBS doesn't support any.

In a 2000 or 2003 domain the license service has to go on the DC. If you put the cals on there you should still be able to run your 2000 server as a member server of the SBS domain.

You'd have to remove and reinstall TS I think to point it to a new license server.
