I am having trouble setting the default font for a template in Word and making it the default. I try it, but it never saves. If I shut the program down and restart it, it defaults to a different font. This was changed somehow, but I do not know how.

In case I rambled too much in the above paragraph, here is what I need to do. I need to select a font for a template, and then set it as the default font. The PC having this issue is runing Word97, and Win 2000 Pro.

When you say you're changing the default font you don't say how you're going about it, so please don't take offense if this is something you've already done.

1. Start Word, which should give you a new blank document.
2. Go to FORMAT, FONT.
3. Select the font you want.
4. Click the DEFAULT button in the bottom left corner of the dialog box.
5. When asked if you want to make the change click YES.

If that's not doing it, perhaps there's a problem with your NORMAL.DOT file. You can try closing Word, renaming it to some other name, then restarting Word and repeat the instructions above. Note that if you have any custom toolbars, etc., that they will be deleted. If you don't like the results of this close Word, delete the newly-created NORMAL.DOT file, and restore the name of your original one.
