Hi all,

I use a template in Dreamweaver 4.0 for the pages I create. The problem is that when I change something in the template and then Modify < Templates < Update Pages ,the pages that use this template do not update. So I have to manually do the changes in all the pages.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem? You will save me from having to update about 50 pages manually...

Many thanks.

When you are creating these new pages from the template are you going to 'file' -
'new from template' or are you using the template file (.dwt) as the base file and then saving as .htm, etc.??

I would also make sure you have created a site under the site menu. Go to the 'site' and select 'site map'. In the site map view select 'define site' from the dropdown and browse to where your files reside (c:\ drive or remote site). I believe you need to create a site in order for the template to work properly.

If you have already done this, I'm not sure what is going on. Hope this helps.

Hi Bamboo,

Thanks for your reply. When I create a new page I do File < New from template. I also have a site map which leads to the directory where I have all my files.. I don't know what's wrong..

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLP.

Theuniqueme,

Hmmm. . . I can't seem to think of anything else. I have run into this problem several times a while back and can only think of one other thing. That would be if you moved your template file (.dwt) or the files associated with it.

I would do a quick test and build another template, build 1 or 2 pages from it and see if you have the same problem with the update.

Good luck.

Hi,

This might sound like a silly question, but did you define your site before creating the templates?

If you didn't, then that might be your problem.

Hope this helps you!

Hello Theuniqueme!

Haven't had this problem personally but I remember there was such a problem before on this forum and someone found solution re-creating site cache. Try it.

Good Luck!
