Hi All,

I can't seem to get my Telstra Next G Turbo Modem (USB) working while my PC is connected to a workgroup (Cat5). The workgroup doesn't have internet access and I'm running Windows XP.

The telstra application for the Next G card indicates that it's connected to the internet but when i go to any websites, I get an error message saying page not found. It's only when I disconnect the LAN cable, the internet works straight away. So if you're asking me, Windows is routing everything through the LAN and not the Next G Turbo Modem. I've called up Telstra but they don't provide any support on the matter.

Is it possible to have a Windows PC simultaneously connected to a workgroup and the internet through the Telstra Next G Turbo Modem? Where do I change the setting to force all internet requests through the Next G Wireless card and not the LAN? The people who made the dongle for the Next G card informed me you cannot use the modem with a LAN connection present. Apparently, this is not a modem limitation, but a Windows limitation. Is this the case?

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I saw comments like this in reviews at
"One gripe ... there's no ethernet port and you cannot share the internet connection, forcing users with a home network to purchase a subscription and modem for each computer. I smell a money making scheme."

"all computers in my office are networked ethernet and wireless network next g won't allow me to access printers or other computers, total waste of time in an office environment."

Hi linney.

Many thanks for the prompt reply. Also from that link I came across this comment:

"...but the software does not allow you to be connected to any other network and still utilise the internet connection at the same time. If you really on being on a network or wish to share this internet connection forget it"

Just sounds really silly to me. Might have to confirm with Microsoft to see if this is really the case.

Thanks again.
