telnet timeouts through pptp

Hi, we have a RAS3000 vpn server in place that uses the pptp protocol for clients to connect. It creates it's own connectoid that we send out to users. I set the connectoid to disconnect after 120 min. of idle time. 3 of our clients are complaining about premature disconnects from their telnet program. They have a dsl connection and are behind a linksys nat router with current firmware. If they are idle for about 20 min. the telnet connection locks up yet the vpn connection is still up but must be re-established to log backin to telnet. If the telnet session stays busy, all is fine. Any suggestions?
