telnet slow

solaris 8 (E450 server) telnet running extremly slow and sometimes connections timeout. Any ideas where to look....telnet -d provides no infomation so I'm out of ideas

if this is just slow on initial connections then check your dns configuration and more specifically the reverse arp lookup.

does ping work well?
is this something new? or been happening for a while.
