Hey there!

I want to display 'LIVE' rolling text on the bottom of a television screen that I type in on a keyboard. Exactly the way it is done on Sky news!

Are there any applications available to download/buy.
Can/How it be done through Visual Basic?
Are there any websites that deal exactly in this area?

All help is gladly appreciated as i dont have a clue as to what is involved.

Agent009,

I use 2 All-in-Wonder Graphics boards. To display on a TV you would have to set the output to TV (50hz 640/480) and have any TV video not in "always on top" but in fullscreen and hide the controls under your rolling text app. Any app that is refreshed from the Shell command seems to appear in front of the full screen and stay there, but that may be to do with ATI. The text app would be better if you turned-off the normal tile bar (no I don't know how but I have seen threads to this effect and it is a "properties" thingy). The advantage of this approach is that the footage can be off air or from VCR and the output can be to another TV.

If you used the MMplayer in a maximised MDI form you can set the MMplayer borders and controls to hidden and then just have a picture box and write text to it and have the picture scroll. I ask and got replies about scrolling a pic in a box about 1 month or so back.

I would bet on there being apps available - how much can you afford? Adobe Premiere would do it in digital AVI files (yes I have done similar) and Cool3D is geared just for these kind of things (have you got a fast PC?). The learning curve is easier than VB from scratch - just.
let us know what you find.
