Telecom Accronym

I tried to locate these acronyms in "Newton's Telecom Dictionary".
(Brief definitions)
QSIG = An emerging signaling and control standard for Private Integrated Network Exchange applications.
I can't find the other acronyms, these are as close as I could get:
ARDIS = A public data communications wireless network that allows people carrying handheld devices to send and receive short data messages.
DLCI = Data Link Connection Identifier (a 10-bit field of the Address Field [Frame Relay applications]).
ALI = Automatic Location Information (A feature of E911 service).

This is a Q.931 based Primary Rate ISDN signaling protocol meant for PBX to PBX tieline applications. It is quasi-standardised and handle some interesting supplementary features useful in the PBX context but is NOT the same as protools offered by the Telcos.

Sure you don't mean ALIT = Automatic Line Insulation Test(er)
DLIC
Well it would seem like ALIC and DLIC would be Analog LIC and Digital LIC but I do not know what LIC is unless it is Line Interface Card

qsig is a common lang that mixed source equiptment can share.. between my nortel 81c and the cisco call manager or between nortel and rolm... rolm does not support an iterface type 81c, nortel can't speak rolm, but they both speak qsig..
we used dlci numbers almost the same as layer 2 switching, back when frame was new.. been a while but they are still used...
ani,, automatic number id.. the kind you get at home, i call you see my name (ss7 database) and my number..ani database..
ali.. positron coined, automatic line id.. ties the ali to a get file, you can can block your number when you call me, but dial 911 and they can still see your number, and your address and if they want to tie it in, your wants and warrents...

In this case, since you are clearly asking about IPC, QSIG is the protocol of the "T-1" link between and IPC system and the traditional PBX at the trading firms site....the one that connects the traders turret phone to the rest of the company phones

bad thing about accronyms in this field, each mfg can use the same or almost the same one for a unique protocol or part. i think tie used to use dlic for the same thing.. in nortel it is something totally diff... there is a book of terms i've seen around just for this field
