Personally, I think there's WAY too many acronyms in the world, but some of them are fun. The one I've been using recently has been:

PEBCAM Error - Problem Exists Between Chair And Monitor

... of course, some of them have come from Dilbert; little did Scott Adams know that he would be inventing acronyms while making fun of corporate America.... such as:

PFY - Pimply-Faced Youth (usually refers to interns or other newbies)
PHB - The Pointy-Haired Boss (no explaination needed)

... I have a coffee cup at work that I got from ThinkGeek.com which just says RTFM. Many persons have come up to me to ask what it stood for. I simply tell them "Read The Manual". A couple have asked what the F stood for, stopped themselves, and walked out of the office. :)

I'm not sure where this thread is going, but I just thought it would be fun to discuss some of the newer pop-culture colloquialism acronyms that are going around out there.

Hi Greg,

I think that discussions of this sort would best fit in the Making an Impression forum. If that forum didn't exist I'd be happy to talk about any language topic, but it was first, and I didn't start this group to compete with it. So out of courtesy maybe we could stick to wordplay?

Just repost the same thing in that forum and give us a link here! I have a response waiting.

I do appreciate your desire to contribute. (I definitely would like to make this forum a success, and that won't happen until many members are contributing.)

In case you didn't know, I am the forum owner, which is why I am the one posting this. :)

My bad. :( I just like to throw in my 2 cents, as you're aware. I appreciate being invited to begin with! :)
