I've been having a quick look at microsoft technet
I want to start somebody off learning about Transact SQL

There's quite a few links

Does anybody have any recommendations?

w3schools.com has some basic SQL tutorials. It isn't just TSQL, but it is the basics.

For TSQL you might find some stuff at

(of course they really want you to buy a subscription, but there is still alot of good content that is free)
