Is it possible to change the TDM bus cable & terminators, on a live switch, (Prologic).

Nothing overcautious in this rec. If you mis align the Bus terminators while its hot (Which is easy to do) you will cause yourself a lot of grief.

I agree with Dunstan. Even a few volts in the wrong place could give you a lot more downtime than if you just go ahead and power down to begin with. The pins are so small and so many of them, it is very easy to misalign them. I usually get a high intensity flashlight and double check myself before powering back up.

I totally agree with this, I had an avaya technician fry the terminator and part of my processor interface by incorrectly installing the terminator, and that was with the system off. I also had an instructor nearly electrocute himself at training by trying to plug in the p1 cable live, lots of sparks. Not something I'd want to see on my system.

Appreciate the advice, I will power down
before changing the bus cable and terminators.

Thanks.

While we're on this topic. Does anyone have a spare TDM Bus Cable they would like to sell or give me? I've got a crack in mine that I think might be causing some of the weird errors I've been seeing. This is for a Prologix CSI with the 10 slot wall mount type cabinets. The existing one has a blue label on it that has the name Woven Electronics with their part # WP91716-L8. I called them and they won't sell direct. I've gotten conflicting info on the Avaya part # so I'm not sure of this, but it might be 406153122. Any help on where to pick one up cheap would be appreciated.

Just for your infomation, When realgining the TDM cable make sure you sit the cable correctly under good lighting, I did once and miss out on 1 whole rows of pins and my switch gen out major processor failure logs ending up having to buy a new processor for nothing.

I know no voice, i know not systems,
i know nuts on networking, because I dont know anything!
