Hi all,

Why is TCP/Ip is so slow compared with Named pipes?
Is there other protocols that are even faster?

/Kent J.

I hadn't noticed that TCP/IP was slower than Named Pipes. Most literature that I've read indicates that TCP/IP is the faster protool. I can't prove that because I seem to get good performance with either. There must be some netowrk or configuration problem if you are noticing signifcantly slower performance with TCP/IP. Terry L. When you ping your database server, what response times do you get? Just copy & paste the command window screen into your reply.

Sorry,

Can't do that because we have turned the ping off on the router.
