Hi friends,

a win 98 box im working on has a problem. When i try to browse to any location in IE, it gives me the page cannot b found. if i put will try and other such combinations and then shows page not found.

MSN also fails and tells me that the net might b down or something is wrong with my connection.

Netscape gives me the following msg:

"Netscape was unable to create a network socket
connection. There may be insufficiente system
resources, or the network may be down (Reason:)"

But, if i use ping, im able to ping all kinda addresses like certain addresses dont work.

FTP, Telnet dont work either.

This is what i did to fix the problem
1. Re-installed Dial-up Networking (DUN)
2. Re-installed TCP/IP stack in Control Panel > Networking
3. Re-installed Windows over the previous version (Did not format or delete earlier installation)

None of these things fixed the problem.

Im all outa ideas. Hoping u guys might b able to help me out.

1 weird thing that i noticed was that in Control Panel, under networking, there r 3 entries
Client for Microsoft Networks
TCP/IP
Dial-up adapter

but i delete any 1, all of them get deleted and if i add 1, all 3 get added. Is that normal???

Pls help me out if u can!

Regards
