Hello All,
In Outlook. . . .
- Appointments are those times in the day that we block off time to accomplish something. That could be a meeting, phonecall, write letters, etc.
- Just because you have created a Task does not mean you have blocked off time in your day to accomplish it. That is why you have to create an appointment such as "Work on Tasks"
- Yes, dragging and dropping the Task onto the Calendar does create an Appointment with the subject line of the Task. However, be aware that this is no longer a "Task" so if you have to send a "Task Update" or want to mark the Task completed you will still have to go back to the Task list and mark it off.
- Tasks when created will show up in the Calendar (Day, Work week and Week) as a "Task List" in the lower right hand corner of the screen. That way it is a constant reminder that you have Tasks to complete.
- If you set a completion date for your Task and that date has past the Task will turn Red.
Drag and Drop. . .
- Try this out. Using "Notes" create a new note, close it then "Drag and Drop" it onto. . .
** "Inbox" folder - A new email is created from the note.
** "Calendar" folder - A new Appointment is created
** "Task" folder - A new Task is created
** "Contact" folder - A new Contact is created
As you can see "Notes" is the truely underated part of Outlook, but is has the most flexibility.
