Creating a new project. Created tasks and resources, assigned resources to their tasks. Task Usage sheet show hours. Why did they automatically post??

You have confused "Work" with "Actual Work

Nope. The are posting on Actual Work.

Actual Hours" don't automatically post. Perhaps you updated %Complete or %WorkComplete.

You will also see this happen if you enter a date in "Actual Finish
