I cannot run batch files in task scheduler. Does anybody know why? Im using an xcopy backup routine. Windows 2000 Server SP3. Thanks!!!

does the sme thing work from a command prompt? MCSE NT&2K,CCNA/CCDA,CNA,ASE,NSP

Sure does. If i go Start > Run > cmd, navigate to the dir where my batch files are stored, and run the file it works fine. But it just sorta "flickers" when you click Run in the task scheduler.

try wacking a pause statment at the end of it and that way u can see what its saying if anything MCSE NT&2K,CCNA/CCDA,CNA,ASE,NSP

My fault... no flicker. If I click run, the "Last Run Time" column changes, but it doesn't say that anything is running... it just kinda changes thee Last Run date. Any idea's?

I'm logged on through Terminal Services, and it makes no difference whether im logged in as Admin or my Power User profile.

Im lost...

Sounds like you have some services running that you need to stop before you can run your batch files - is the server a database server or exchange

stick a pause at the end of the batch file and see if it gives u any indication or errors MCSE NT&2K,CCNA/CCDA,CNA,ASE,NSP

bah somone delete my last post--hmm and this one :p MCSE NT&2K,CCNA/CCDA,CNA,ASE,NSP

lol Gareth...

This computer is an IIS and SQL Server. Would either of those be causing any problems? becausee like i said, it runs if i manually start it from a command prompt. Just not from the task scheduler.

I did stick a pause in my scripts just in case it was causing a non-noticable launch, but it's not even launching.

Just to say that I said so, i also have a server that is nothing more than Network Storage - no other services or programs running - and it won't work on that either.

Hmm... had a thought... maybe Norton Antivirus is not letting this run? I have Corp 7.5 edition.

Have you tried to run other scripts through Task Scheduler? do they work ok?

I have... they don't run either. I don't know what the problem is. I've even tried scheduling a shortcut (.lnk) to run with no luck. Norton is not the problem. Theres nothing showing up in Event Viewer. no error messages get shot to me. Im lost!!!

I'm not sure about this but do you have administrative rights to this server? That might have an effect...or not

i do. and i've even logged in as the administrative account just to make sure. This whole thing is wierd.

Okay guys. Apparently something doesn't work right in TS (Terminal Services). Im now logged in through VNC as the administrator, and when i tell the task to run, it runs!!!

YAY!!! This should run even when i'm logged off, i think, right? *hopes for a yes*

If it wasn't for .NET, i'd be using Linux w/ Apache... but i love me some .NET [love]
