Task Manager Appearing/Closing

In XP OS.
Press Ctrl-Alt Delete. Task Manager window will only appear for a sec then icon in tray then disappears quickly. Virus?

Yes, or similar.

Do a keyword search on this Forum for 'task manager', and select that the words appear in the Subject Lines.

Most of this is just routine malware, that FAQ faq608-4650 steps #2-#3 will handle, but I would do at least one online antivirus scan as suggested in step #1 from smah's FAQ.
